Jermain Defoe admits he's stepping into the unknown against Falkirk as he prepares to battle the elements in the Betfred Cup clash.

The 38-year-old is in contention to start at the weekend, but could face something of a culture shock having been used to operating at the highest level.And the former England international is preparing to battle the elements as well as the Bairns.

Defoe said: "I've never been to Falkirk before, I've heard it is really cold so I will have the thermals! "I'm really looking forward to it and we will go there to try and win the game." The striker was left out of Rangers ' squad for the Europa League, but the veteran is taking the positives as he takes the opportunity to rest.
