Wetherspoons, which has more than 800 pubs across the UK and Ireland, says it was a "commercial decision" to close and offload the pubs.
The popular chain had previously warned it was expected annual losses of around £30 million for the year to July amid rising staff wages and spending on repairs and marketing.
Controversial businessman Tim, who was a prominent backer of the Leave campaign, recently raised eyebrows by claiming that Brexit would work if the tariffs were removed.
