The couple met in the year 2000, when Beyoncé, now 42, was just 18 years old.Their meeting came when they sat next to each other on a plane while both attending the 2000 MTV Spring Break festival.
It seems that Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, who is 12 years Beyoncé's senior, always knew she was 'the one' as he rapped about it in his 2018 song Everything Is Love.
It includes the lines: "We played it cool at the pool of the Cancun, VMA / Confidence you exude make the fools stay away / Me, I played my room, let the fools have they say / Fate had me sittin' next to you on the plane / And I knew straight away." Despite an instant spark on their first meeting, Jay-Z and Beyoncé didn't officially go on their first date until 2001, a year after meeting.
