The family of missing teen Jay Slater has been subjected to a horrifying online hoax, with fake videos posted on the internet claiming to show the 19 year old being held hostage.
Jay vanished on June 17 and on Monday, July 15 it was revealed that a body had been found just a 20-minute walk from where his phone last pinged off a cell tower.
Lancashire Police have confirmed that they believe the body to be Jay's after liaising with Spain's Guardia Civil. Former police officer and investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas has been spearheading the search for Jay, working closely with the family over the past few weeks.
He has now shared the chilling details of how multiple individuals pretended to have Jay in their custody, presumably with the intention of extorting a large sum of money from his family.
