Shinzo Abe, the former Prime Minister of Japan, was apparently shot while giving a campaign speech. Reports have surfaced saying that Abe was giving a speech on Friday (July 8) in the city of Nara and that he collapsed to the ground.
It appears that Abe was shot from behind and that he was bleeding from the chest. Local outlet NHK reported that police sources believe the former PM was hit from behind by shotgun fire. A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene for attempted murder. For those who don’t know, Abe is the longest-serving prime minister in Japanese history.
