Janey Godley last saw 'murdered' mum on Mother's Day 40 years ago

Janey Godley has shared a tribute to her late mother as this Mother's Day marks 40 years since she last saw her alive. The Scots comedian's mother Annie was found dead in the Clyde during the 1980s and Janey claims her mother's violent partner Peter Greenshields was to blame for her death.

And in a social media post today, Janey has been remembering her mother, saying she will never be forgotten. Sharing a picture of her mum, Janey wrote: "40 years ago, #MothersDay 1982 was the last time I saw my mammy alive, days later, she was murdered by her ex boyfriend and thrown in the River Clyde - her name was Annie Currie - she will not be forgotten #HappyMothersDay2022."
