Jamie Dornan has recalled the heartbreaking moment he learned his father had died and the horror of being stuck in Australia and unable to leave. The Fifty Shades of Grey actor’s father Jim died in March 2021 at the age of 73 after contracting Covid.

It was even more of a devastating blow for Jamie, 39, who was in quarantine in Adelaide after flying Down Under to film his BBC thriller series The Tourist.

Opening up about his ordeal, Jamie told News Corp Australia: ‘Getting that news no matter where you are geographically is sh**e, you know, ‘I was stuck out there, denied seeing my sisters, denied seeing my stepmother – not ideal, but you’re a wreck no matter where you are when something like that happens to you.’ After receiving the news, Jamie threw himself into work and continued filming the series.

However, he’s aware it could have delayed his grieving process and said: ‘There might be lasting damage, who knows, but at the time it felt like a good distraction.’ Jamie hadn’t seen his father for 18 months before his death due to the lockdown restrictions and his hectic work schedule.
