Jamie Carragher has slammed former club Liverpool as an "embarrassment" after they announced plans to join a Super League. The breakaway elitist competition, which also features five other Premier League clubs, released a statement last night after widespread condemnation.
The Premier League, the FA and UEFA were just three of football's leading authorities to come and out and criticise the proposals.
After Liverpool released a statement on their website Carragher responded on Twitter. He said: "What an embarrassment we’ve become @LFC think of all the people who have come before us at this club who would be equally embarrassed as well. #SuperLeague ".
