On Thursday, Van Der Beek, 46 shared the fan video mocking “Dawson’s Creek” in his Instagram Stories, and added his own commentary. “We must’ve blown the budget on tissues,” he posted, joking about his character Dawson’s infamous crying.
He added a laughing emoji. “Dawson’s Creek” (currently streaming on Hulu) aired on the now-defunct The WB from 1998 to 2003, following the high school and college dramas of friends in fictional Capeside, Mass., including Dawson, Pacey (Joshua Jackson), Joey (Katie Holmes) and Jen (Michelle Williams).
The seminal teen drama was soapy, but it was also a star-maker for its young cast, as they all went on to other popular and acclaimed projects such as “Batman Begins” (Holmes), “Don’t Trust the B– in Apartment 23” (Van Der Beek), “Fringe,” “The Affair,” and “When They See Us” (Jackson), and a slew of Oscar-nominated movies, including “Manchester By the Sea” and “The Fabelmans” (Williams).
