James Newman put on a brave face as he received zero points in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest placing him in last place behind Germany – who received three points.
The 35-year-old singer represented the UK technically for a second time after being sent forth to compete in 2020 – only for the contest to be postponed by the coronavirus pandemic.
But if an extra year to prepare was spent with hopes of winning, those dreams were dashed on Saturday night as the UK came last out of all the finalists.
The British singer gave his all with his song, Embers, but it was not enough win a single vote from either the professional jury – or the viewing public.
