TOWIE favourite Joey Essex has opened up about the trauma he suffered as a result of his mum’s death in an emotional BBC One documentary titled Joey Essex: Grief & Me, which aired tonight at 9pm.

Joey’s mum Tina tragically took her own life when he was just 10 years old, and since losing her he has struggled to sustain relationships with women.The heart-breaking documentary follows Joey as he confronts his grief and subsequent trauma head-on by attending therapy.

He said: “The truth is, I’ve never been able to deal with it.” Joey came to the realisation that he needed help, saying: “I’ve kept all this pain bottled up for 20 years – getting panic attacks, feeling anxious and pushing people away.
