Jameela Jamil says she was inspired to continue working in the entertainment industry after seeing women like Oprah Winfrey on US television.
She says that seeing women of different races onscreen was a ‘big moment’ for her and claims that diversity is still something that is lacking in the UK.
In a new interview with Playboy magazine, Jameela says that she thinks Oprah ‘would never have made it’ if it had been the UK’s TV industry that she was trying to crack.
The Good Place actress, 34, who is now largely based in Los Angeles was asked if she misses being in London and while there’s parts of her that does, Jameela said she ‘feels safe’ in the US, while claiming LA is ‘more progressive’ than London.
