Jamal Edwards has ruled that he died from a cardiac arrest after taking cocaine and drinking. The entrepreneur, who died aged 31 in February, was found with three small snap bags with the remnants of white powder after he collapsed at the home of his mother, Loose Women panelist Brenda Edwards, in West London.Toxicology tests found cocaine and alcohol in his system, as well as MDMA in his urine but not his blood, indicating that he had taken the drug recently but not on the night of his death.Edwards, who founded SB.TV, had returned to the home in Acton at 4am after playing a DJ set in North London, and sat up drinking with his friend Nick Hopper, who was living in an annex of the property.
Tuesday’s inquest heard that Edwards became paranoid, began behaving erratically and throwing things around the room before collapsing.
Hopper told the inquest, via South West News Service: ‘When he came in he appeared to be his normal self and it appeared that he had just been out.‘We began to chat, smoke some weed and drink.
He told me he was under a lot of pressure. There were periods of talking followed by silences.‘Over time Jamal became quite paranoid and was saying I had things in my hands when I didn’t.
