Cormier called out YouTube star Paul following his win over Ben Askren earlier this month and claimed he would "kill" him in a fight.
He then confronted Paul at UFC 261 last weekend before saying he was willing to fight the 24-year-old in mixed martial arts.
But Paul dismissed the idea of switching codes, telling ESPN: "Of course he's going to challenge me to an MMA fight, but I find it funny because he's challenging me to something I've ever trained in. "He's trained boxing and stand-up and has been in there with Stipe [Miocic] and Jon Jones.
