ITV's This Morning viewers were left puzzled when the show vanished from air on Friday morning. Presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary seemed to 'disappear' during an ad break, replaced by old recordings and a message saying: "We are sorry for the disruption to your schedule.
We will return to normal programming as soon as we can." This Morning's official Twitter account explained that technical issues had caused the interruption but reassured fans they would be back as quickly as possible.
Concerned viewers rushed to Twitter to ask if everything was alright. After a five-minute absence, the hosts returned, jokingly blaming "gremlins" in the system.
They referenced some of the videos that came up during the outage, such as clips from Josie Gibson and Julia Bradbury. Dermot made light of the situation, saying Gyles Brandreth may have mucked about with the cables in jest, adding: "When I'm on, my wife turns the sound down," suggesting she might have liked the substitute videos.
