Sharon Marshall has been forced to issue an apology after appearing to confirm a Coronation Street exit. The 'soap Queen' was back on This Morning on Wednesday (March 29) for her weekly segment in which she teases viewers with what's to come in Corrie as well as Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks.

Joining Holly Willoughby and her new co-host Joel Dommett live in the studio, Sharon touched on one of Corrie's latest hard-hitting storylines which saw Amy Barlow raped by her friend Aaron Sandford.

The storyline comes amidst more shocking and upsetting scenes for the soap following Daisy Midgeley and Ryan Connor's recent acid attack and Paul Foreman's upcoming motor neurone disease diagnosis.

And Sharon was quick to defend the Salford-based, long-running soap after some have criticised it for bringing too many 'darker' storylines to the small screen all at once.
