Rochelle Humes candidly admitted that she felt a 'deep shame' when growing up during her latest appearance on This Morning.

The singer-turned-presenter has been back as the main host of the ITV daytime programme this week alongside Vernon Kay. As they returned for Thursday's show (September 1), the pair were joined by two familiar faces for the latest 'This Morning's View' segment which sees the four-piece discuss the latest news headlines.

One of the topics they discussed was a new report on who makes up a 'traditional' family in the UK today. According to the report, nearly half of British children now grow up outside the traditional two-parent household. Commenting on the stats, which say 44 per cent of those born at the start of the century didn't live with both biological parents for their entire childhood, Rochelle said: "I remember, so I grew up raised by my mum and my mum only, and when I was younger it was kind of the thing that I was almost a little embarrassed about it." The 33-year-old continued: "So they'd be like, 'oh who's your dad?' and I'd be like, 'oh he's never here, I don't really know him that much', and it was always something that I felt sort of deep shame about as a child which is an odd thing.
