But their broadcast faced a peculiar interruption instead of none festive music as Everybody Hurts by R. E.M. filled the studio, leading a perplexed Alison to question: "Where's the Christmas song?" Dermot, 51, was equally baffled, quipping: "I don't understand?

It's a killer of a tune but what's it got to do with Christmas?" As if on cue, the mischievous cackles of The Grinch, who had been sporadically intruding throughout the programmere, surfaced followed by gales of laughter as he simulated wind noises on air, reports the Mirror.

The Grinch couldn't resist taunting: "Attention This Morning shoppers, it is I, The Grinch, not so festive anymore?", and boasted: "I'm in charge of the jukebox now, I can play anything I want and no Christmas songs, just flatulence!" After being taken aback by the noisy antics, Alison didn't hesitate to express her mortification with: "Oh my God, this is so embarrassing!
