Despite Ant and Dec's highly anticipated return to the small screen with Saturday Night Takeaway, ITV viewers were left less than impressed with Declan Donnelly's "inappropriate" remarks on the show over the weekend.

The Geordie duo returned with their popular variety programme on Saturday which included guests Good Morning Britain's Alison Hammond and Doctor Who star David Tennant. But just minutes in, 47-year-old show host Dec made a comment about one of the members of the audience which didn't sit well with viewers tuning in at home as they slammed the show across social media. He said: “Even though we have been off air, we’ve still kept a very close eye on all of you here, and all of you out there,”Turning to a female member of the audience he quipped: "Yes, you should look nervous Madam and close your legs." The controversial comment saw viewers rush to social media to complain, with some saying they would be contacting TV regulator Ofcom to raise the issue further.

One fan wrote: “Close your legs? What a deeply inappropriate comment to make guys, come on #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”“Ofcom complaints Monday morning,” another social media user commented.A third said: “I just want people to know there is Ofcom to voice your concerns to, if there are enough complaints ITV /Ant and Dec will have to apologise” as they shared a link to the Ofcom complaints page.Another section of Saturday Night Takeaway also drew complaints from viewers who branded it "bad taste," according to The Mirror.

The pair of presenters played a "cruel" prank on a first-time dad by creating fake footage of a 4D scan of the baby during the couple's hospital visit.
