An ITV presenter who has been at the channel for over three decades has announced her decision to leave ITV Granada. Lucy Meacock, who has worked as the the main presenter on ITV’s flagship news show Granada Reports, revealed live on air that she would be stepping back from the programme after 36 years, explaining that the time was “right” to move on.
Sharing the news on Monday, 15 July, Lucy stated: “This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made. But the time is right to move on now. “For me it has always been the best job in the world, with the best people in the world, in the best region in the world.” She continued: “I am very grateful that I was given this job so many years ago.
I have always tried my hardest to make a positive contribution and I hope I will be remembered with some fondness in the years ahead.” Finishing off her emotional statement, Lucy said that it had been a “complete honour” to share the stories of people in the North West of England and thanked those who’d appeared on the show.
In response to the news, many people took to social media to show their support for Lucy as they also expressed their sadness at her leaving the show. “Lucy Meacock is leaving Granada Reports I don’t remember ever seeing the local news without her,” wrote one social media user on X. “Lucy Meacock is leaving Granada Reports, the end of a legendary presenter, I for one will miss you,” added another.
