Ever since Moira underwent surgery for her brain tumour and Cain's infidelity with Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly), he has been grappling with his guilt.
Cain failed to accompany Moira to her hospital appointment, instead spending the night in a jail cell. Upon his release on Wednesday (December 11), he headed straight to The Woolpack to drown his sorrows in whisky.
After a confrontation with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) over his recent excessive drinking, Cain left the pub and retreated to the allotment.
