Long-time viewers of the ITV drama will be aware that the terminally ill Anthony arrived in the village recently, seeking reconciliation with his estranged daughter after years of separation.
Ruby, desperate to keep her daughter Steph (Georgia Jay) close, hesitantly agreed to let Anthony stay in the Dales. Caleb Milligan (William Ash) seemed keen for his spouse Ruby to forge a bond with her father and give him an opportunity, but Caleb's dreams of familial bliss have been shattered.
In the episode aired on Tuesday (December 10), a visibly agitated Anthony showed up at Mill Cottage, having learned about Caleb's secret romance with Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh).
