Emmerdale viewers were left utterly baffled at the end of tonight's instalment, Thursday 30 November, as David Metcalfe (played by Matthew Wolfenden) finally left the village seemingly without his son Theo in tow.
The character's departure had been teased for weeks, due to Matthew's sign-up in a pantomime over the Christmas season. Yet as David finally decided to leave the village, leaving in his car to drive to London for an impromptu stay with Priya (Fiona Wade) and his nine year old daughter Amber, fans also noticed that there was no mention of his toddler, whom he had with ex-girlfriend Maya Stepney.
While Theo generally stays off-screens since his birth, and the characters simply mention Theo from time to time, it seemed that bosses had forgotten to clarify whether the youngster would be staying with another family member instead.
What's more, as David sobbed and escaped the village in the darkness, there was no sign of his little boy or a baby car seat.
