Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, who plays soap favourite Tyrone Dobbs, was reportedly set to star in the latest I'm A Celebrity...
Get Me Out of Here! before he was forced to pull out. As we reported last week, the 41-year-old was said to be devastated to lose his place in the reality show based down under following a major knee operation which has also put a halt to him filming for Corrie as he recovers at home. "It’s a big blow, but there’s no way he can go to Australia – his surgeon would have a fit," an ITV source said.
They added: "Alan needs to recover fully and then maybe he can take part next year. It’s a massive shame because everyone was really looking forward to having him on the show, but these things happen." It was revealed that Tyrone will appear on the cobbles soap until the end of the year before taking some time away from Weatherfield early in 2024 while he recovers from the surgery on his ACL ligament.
There have been no confirmations about how writers will slot in Alan’s temporary departure - and what it means for Tyrone. The Mirror has taken a look at some of the potential storylines that could explain his exit, from a reunion with Fiz to meeting his secret baby.
