Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has stirred up a mix of emotions as she made a return to somewhere close to her heart.
Long before treading the cobbles, the actress was known for starring in Brookside. Claire landed her first major role in the Channel 4 soap as Lindsey Corkhill, initially as a recurring character from 1991 and then as a leading character from 1995.
She was the daughter of already established regulars Jimmy and Jackie. The soap star then starred in the Liverpool-based programme, set around a cul de sac, until the final episode was broadcast in November 2003. It was in June 2023 that Claire made her debut on the cobbles as Cassie Plummer, the long-lost mother of Weatherfield's Tyrone Dobbs.
