Coronation Street fans are out for justice after Peter Barlow discovered the surgeon who helped save his life used his operation as a competition with his doctor mates.

During Monday night's edition of the ITV soap, the recovering alcoholic was ecstatic after being given a clean bill of health a year after his liver transplant last year.

As an act of goodwill, Peter and wife Carla headed to the hospital to give Mr Thorne a bottle of whisky for performing his life-saving surgery.

But as he arrived at Weatherfield General, Aggie Bailey had some shocking news to share. Last week, the nurse overheard Mr Thorne gloating to a colleague how he rushed Peter's operation in order to win a bet.
