ITV confirms its plans to cover the Queen's state funeral

ITV has confirmed its plans for broadcasting the Queen's funeral. Queen Elizabeth II will be laid to rest in a state funeral at Westminster Abbey next Monday, September 19.

The 96-year-old monarch died peacefully at Balmoral last Thursday, September 8. Her death was announced at around 6.30pm, hours after Buckingham Palace released a statement saying doctors were concerned for her health.

The world then watched as Charles, who is now King, and the Queen's other children rushed to be by her bedside, as well as grandsons Prince William and Harry.

A short statement released by the Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon."
