Fans of Serie A will tell you that a week does not go by where there is not something extraordinary to talk about. And that theme was made apparent once again on Friday night when Udinese and Italy star Lorenzo Lucca found himself brutally substituted despite firing his team in front from the penalty spot.
Le Zebrette travelled to Lecce in the opening fixture of the Serie A weekend and were handed the chance to go in front with a spot kick just after the half hour mark.
Italy cap and ex Ajax kid Lucca has been in fine form this season with 11 goals from his first 25 matches, and immediately grabbed the ball to step up and take the penalty.
However, his antics did not go down too well with his Udinese teammates, with several players including defensive duo Jaka Bijol and Oumar Solet forcibly trying to remove the ball from Lucca's grasp and hand it to skipper and regular penalty taker Florian Thauvin, once of Newcastle.
