The home of Italian legend Paolo Rossi was burgled while his funeral was ongoing in the city of Vicenza on Saturday. Rossi won the Golden Boot on the way to helping his country win the World Cup in 1982, while he played for the likes of Juventus and AC Milan at club level.
He died on Wednesday at the age of 64 from lung cancer, and tributes have been pouring in ever since. Thousands took to the streets in Vicenza to pay their respects at his funeral.
But Italian media are reporting that his wife Federica Cappalletti returned to their house after the service to find that thieves had broken in and stolen a number of valuables.
