'It was so surprising' - Thomas Tuchel makes Bayern Munich admission ahead of Man City tie

However, they took the shock decision to sack head coach Julian Nagelsmann this week and replace him with Tuchel. Speaking to reporters at an introductory press conference, the former Chelsea boss spoke confidently about inheriting one of the best squads in world football at a club where you are expected to win every competition you enter.
However, given the gauntlet of games he is walking into, Tuchel suggested that he will not be able to put much of his own stamp on the team. "I had a look at my schedule and the fact is I'm going to see some of the international players for the first time on Friday before the game on Saturday. "That's part of the reason why it was so surprising because it is a very demanding part of the season so it was a surprising time to make the decision.
