Zafa Iqbal took over Middleton Road Road Post Office in Crumpsall in 1990 and has been a part of the community ever since. But now Mr Iqbal is to spend more time running his charity, which helps families in need.

However the business will remain in the family, with Mr Ibal's brother Javaid taking over as postmaster, while his wife, other brother, and son will also continue to help with the day-to-day running of the branch.

Mr Iqbal couldn't speak English when he first moved to the UK from Kashmir in Pakistan aged 10. He grew up in Keighley in West Yorkshire and got an engineering
