Actress Lydia West has united with the real-life person behind her It's A Sin character Jill to discuss AIDS activism in the 1980s.
The Channel 4 series is set during the 1980s as the AIDS crisis arrived in the UK, just as gay teen Richie Tozer ( Olly Alexander ) arrives from the Isle of Wight for the diverse delights of London and becomes best friends with the warm Jill Baxter (Lydia West).
Creator and writer Russell T. Davies based the character of Jill on his own friend Jill Nalder, who was one of many women who cared for Queer individuals suffering from HIV/AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s pandemic.
