Heartbreaking Channel 4 series It's A Sin is being credited for a huge surge in HIV tests during 2021. A record of over 6.5m people watched the tragic drama, which documents the lives of young gay friends during the onset of the AIDS epidemic in the early 1980s.
The show aired on 22 January after production delays due to the pandemic, just over a week before HIV Testing Week. During 2019’s Testing Week, 8,068 people checked their HIV status but this year, that number was beaten in a single day.
