"It's a relief, you don't realise how anxious you have been about it", Kirsten Buggy says, just hours after giving birth. Right on cue her her little bundle of joy Rosie-May Ruffle lets out a cry as her mum chats on the phone to the Manchester Evening News from the maternity ward at Royal Oldham Hospital.

Rosie May was born at 12.16pm on Tuesday, by elective c-section - into a strange new world of social distancing, limited visits and PPE.

She's 'happy and healthy', weighing 8lbs 3oz. Giving birth is an anxious experience at the best of times - let alone during a global pandemic. "I was worried and apprehensive.
