The Manchester Evening News has unveiled its new editor as Sarah Lester - who was previously senior editor at the regional daily.
In her expanded role, she will be responsible for the brand development of the MEN across print and online, in addition to her existing duties with its website.
Sarah, who started as a reporter for the MEN in 1997, succeeds Darren Thwaites who will remain editor-in-chief of the title in his role as marketplace publisher for Reach plc’s northern titles.
This comes after playing a “key role” in the title’s digital development. “When I was a teenager I dreamed of being a journalist at the Manchester Evening News – it’s hard to believe that I’m now editor of this incredible brand,” Sarah said, speaking to her new promotion. “It means a great deal.
