Civil follows civil lawyer Benjamin Crump, who famously represented the families of Trayvon Martin and George Floyd in civil lawsuits, and his mission to 'root out anti-Black racism and violence by hitting perpetrators where they’re hurt most: their wallets. 'Crump has been working to ensure financial accountability and raise the value that courts put on Black life,' reads the Tribeca Film Festival synopsis.
Issa - who is serving as the festival's ambassador - eagerly showed her support for the documentary by showing up to Wednesday's screening, which was held at Miami's New World Center.
