On May 27, four-time Grand Slam singles champion Naomi Osaka announced she would not be participating in press for the 2o21 French Open.
In an open letter, she noted being a part of the mandatory interviews was detrimental to her mental health. On Instagram, she wrote: “I’ve often felt that people have no regard for athletes mental health and this rings very true whenever I see a press conference or partake in one.
