Spain is recovering from its worst natural disaster this century after heavy rains battered the north east of the country, leading to devastating flash floods which killed at least 217 people, most of them in the Valencia region.
Hundreds more are still missing with search operations underway as bodies are believed to be trapped in submerged cars. Rainstorms began on Tuesday October 29, transforming streets into rivers, sweeping away cars and covering buildings in thick layers of mud.
Weather warnings remained in place throughout the week as the rain moved around the region, although Valencia felt was the worst affected.
Volunteers have descended upon the region to help with the clear up effort, while thousands of soldiers and police officers have been deployed.
