Tens of thousands of discounted meals have been handed out since the Chancellor introduced a new Eat Out to Help Out scheme this month, offering diners 50% off food throughout August.

Rishi Sunak unveiled the initiative on August 3, promising to save millions of hospitality jobs in the process. The scheme, which came hand-in-hand with a VAT cut, offers diners discounted meals every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, up to the value of £10 per person.

The Government then foots the remaining bill, which firms can claim back through a HMRC portal. However, it's due to end in just a matter of days.

As the final Monday of August is a bank holiday, some people may be wondering whether the Eat Out to Help Out scheme will be valid at all next week.
