Bruce Dickinson was left stunned by the death of his estranged wife Paddy Bowden as he was hoping she had “turned a corner” following their split.

The 61-year-old Iron Maiden frontman had moved to Paris with new lover and Maiden 'superfan' Leana Dolci, 46, and he thought that Paddy was on the right track after their initial split.

Bruce had been married to Paddy for 29 years before making the decision to divorce her at the end of last year. A source has told The Sun that Bruce's relationship with Paddy was "much improved" so her passing has shocked the metal legend.

The source said that despite having personal struggles in the past, it was thought that she was in "a good place" at the time of her death.
