Irish singer Lydia Ford says being a woman in the music industry is ‘tiring’

evoke.ieMayo may not have luck on her side when it comes to football, but when music is involved the county has 27-year-old Lydia Ford flying the red and green flag proudly.
As a little girl, Lydia was inspired by Avril Lavigne and jokes that she has spent her entire career trying to follow in her footsteps.
In fact, she picked up a guitar at the age of nine and the rest as they say is history. After spending time in the States, Lydia decided to set up shop in Berlin.
Although Lavigne is her idol, Lydia’s music is more, in her own words, ‘sad songs to dance to’ she tells EVOKE from her new home in Germany. ‘Someone recently described it as Robyn’s Dancing On My Own mixed with some of Avril Lavigne’s spunkiness!’ she tells EVOKE with pride.
