Irish punter delighted that pubs have reopened racks up extraordinary bar bill

Ireland's pubs have reopened for the first time in three months, and one thirsty punter was not messing about. The mystery customer made up for lost time last night by sinking €220.90 (£200) on Guinness in less than an hour-and-a-half.

A receipt from a hotel bar in County Meath documents the damage from the pub-goer's 105-minute stint in the boozer. The round at the Darnley Lodge Hotel in Athboy consisted of two bowls of soup, a portion of fish and chips, two cokes - and 42 pints of Guinness, reports Dublin Live.

Ireland was back to the pubs yesterday in the first day of Phase 3 of the country's reopening following the coronavirus lockdown.
