A person has died after they were hit by a train near a railway station. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon at Handforth railway station near Wilmslow.
British Transport Police is now preparing a report for the coroner over the death, which is not being treated as suspicious.
Brief details of the incident were confirmed today (Monday) by a spokesperson for BTP. Paramedics and other emergency services were called but the person was declared dead at the scene. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. "The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner." The spokesperson declined to provide the sex or age of the person.
