From Davina McCall’s incredible documentary to Lisa Snowdon’s emotional Instagram live, celebrities are increasingly using their platforms to destigmatise the menopause.
Most recently, Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that she will recruit a “mentor” to help walk her through the new phase of her life.
Speaking to W magazine, the 49 year old explained that she was keeping fit in addition to “staying close” to her doctor and medical expert. “Diet and exercise are super important,” she said. “I try to walk multiple times a week, sweat, exercise, I sauna, and those are just my ways of coping.” But this isn’t the first time that the mum-of-two has spoken about depending on others to guide her through her menopause experience.

In a Goop video in 2018, the Oscar winner said: “I think menopause gets a really bad rap and needs a bit of rebranding.” She added: “I don’t think we have in our society a great example of an aspirational menopausal woman.” So, as Gwyneth gets help with the menopause, what is a ‘menopause mentor’ and how can you get one?
