dailyrecord.co.ukTransfer deadline day is routinely one of the most stressful shifts for any management team.But if you’ve got your recruitment work done early, it can also be one of the most relaxing.That was the case for Saints boss Stephen Robinson and his assistant Diarmuid O’Carroll on Thursday.While other Scottish clubs were desperately scrambling to bring in some new faces, the St Mirren duo were out jogging in Paisley with their phones remarkably quiet all day.The rumour mill of course was still spinning, with skipper Joe Shaughnessy among a few names linked with a dramatic late move away from the club.But when the transfer window slammed shut at midnight, the Buddies pair were pleased their swift business early in the summer allowed them to enjoy a relatively peaceful deadline day this time around.They even got a pat on the back as they went from Saints fans who spotted them on their run after an impressive three-match winning streak.Speaking to Renfrewshire Live Sport, O’Carroll said: “The gaffer is keen to do his business very early.
We had our squad three quarters in place for the league cup campaign.“We were still getting the system going and brought in a few more so at the start of the season we had pretty much everyone we wanted.“Alex Gogic was the only one we did a little bit later, which meant going into the last few days there might have been some outgoings.
Some younger players might have gone out on loan.“But it was nice and relaxed from our side of things. We were in the office in the morning in case anything did happen, but we decided to go out for a little jog around the park to clear the head later on.
