Kate Middleton may be used to spending her time residing at the lavish Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace and visiting Anmer Hall on the Queen’s sprawling Sandringham Estate during school holidays, but her former family home is a lot less extravagant.

Hailing from Berkshire, the Duchess of Cambridge grew up in the village of Bradfield Southend, living in her West View home until the age of 13.

When Carole and Michael Middleton bought the Victorian home in 1979 for £34,700 the semi-detached property had three bedrooms, though the couple spent their time renovating the house.

In fact, Michael, who was good at restoring properties, converted one of the existing bedrooms into a bathroom, even doing the plumbing himself.
