The BBC's most cutthroat reality show, The Traitors, will return to TV screens tonight after a year away (January 1).The first two series have already garnered massive acclaim, with the second season having aired at the start of 2024, where we witnessed Traitor Harry Clark snatch the entire prize pot after remaining undetected throughout the game. The atmospheric Ardross Castle in Scotland provides the stunning backdrop for The Traitors, nestled 30 miles north of Inverness and perched by the River Alness banks. This Scottish gem dates back to the 19th century and boasts more than 100 acres of lush gardens and parkland, plus its distinctive baronial design.
While it has seen numerous upgrades, parts of the castle still remain untouched. Although it seems like the contestants spend their nights in the castle, they're actually whisked away after dining and mingling there for the day, staying overnight in a mystery hotel thought to be near Inverness Airport, reports the Mirror.
The series' host Claudia Winkleman couldn't hold back her admiration for the location, stating: "I thought I've been to beautiful places.
I have never been anywhere more beautiful than the Scottish highlands in my life. It felt sometimes like we were in a painting if that's not too cheesy." "On day two, we saw a double rainbow and everyone was like 'Oh my gosh', and the crew were crying, there were baby deer, there was beautiful heather, there were ancient trees, and an ancient loch." If Ardross Castle looks familiar, it's because the US version of the show is also filmed there. The American edition, hosted by acting icon Alan Cumming, sees a group of celebs compete within the same castle.
