Two 'inseparable' teenagers tragically died after their car crashed into a tree, an inquest has heard. Riley Hedley, 17, and Michael 'Mikey' Easton, 16, died at the scene after the grey Vauxhall Vectra Mikey was driving smashed into the 'large tree' outside a Bristol Street Motors car dealership.

Riley was the front seat passenger in the car, which was "well in excess of the speed limit" before there "was a loss of control of the vehicle", the court was told.

ChronicleLive reports that the crash happened on the A196 near Coopies Lane, Morpeth, at around 12.40am on March 12 last year.

Emergency services attended but the friends died at the scene. For both boys, cause of death was due to multiple injuries related to the crash, which had seen the vehicle break into two.
