A massive Gothic-style mansion has gone to online auction with a starting price of just £1. The A-listed French Gothic-style mansion called The Elms is a former children's home and hotel but has become dilapidated in recent years.
Local leaders have repeatedly called for action to save the impressive building, reports the Angus Courier, and now it has gone under the hammer for the starting price of £1 - without a reserve price.
The mansion, in Cairnie Road in Arbroath, on the east coast of Scotland, was built in the late 19th century for a family whose money came from owning a mill.
It was then requisitioned by the War Office during the Second World War. But here's the catch - the two story mansion has not been used for 28 years,
