The International Documentary Association is beginning 2024 with a new executive director, and now a new executive committee of the IDA board.
The nonprofit, which provides grants in support of documentary filmmakers, advocates for the field and mounts fall and spring screening series and the bi-annual Getting Real conference, announced the election of Ina Fichman and Michael Turner as board co-presidents.
They succeed Grace Lee and Chris Perez, who remain on the board. Fichman earned an Academy Award nomination last year for producing Fire of Love.
She has also earned Emmy, BAFTA, and Cinema Eye Honors nominations for her work, and won awards from the Jerusalem Film Festival, the Gémeaux Awards in Montreal, the Latino Entertainment Journalists Association, among many others.
